Guy Williams

Policy Advisor

Guy Williams is a policy advisor with the Economic Law and Policy Program.

Before joining IISD, Guy worked across the non-profit, research, and policy sectors. Most recently, he was senior research officer at ShareAction, where he produced research on investor and bondholder stewardship, led research and engagement on workforce standards, and represented the organization in its partnership with the University of Oxford, delivering an executive education course on investor sustainability.

Earlier in his career, Guy was a research analyst at the Centre for Public Impact, managing and contributing to international research on economic policy, public service reform, climate engagement, and mental health. He has also held roles in ethical supply chain management and commercial analysis, including professional experience in China.

Guy holds a doctorate and a master’s degree in development studies from the University of Cambridge. He also holds a bachelor's degree in economics and finance and a bachelor's degree in Chinese and French from Victoria University of Wellington. Guy has also completed advanced Chinese language training at Peking University and Nanjing University.

Based in London, Guy speaks English and Chinese.
